My August couple is the completely stunning Anna and very handsome Warren. You’re not going to believe this, but they don’t much like having their photos taken. However, they met with us to have their engagement session done. It turned out that Madison and Anna attended a couple of schools together, and were even in the same Brownie troop! (Anna actually doesn’t know that… Until now..)
Truly, I cannot think of a better way to spend an afternoon. It was a warm and windy day that was made just a little bit hotter by this gorgeous couple!
Here’s just a few from their day. Really looking forward to August!
The only thing I love more than meeting couples like Summer and Bobby is spending time photographing them. There is always such a special quality to that time when the love shared by the couple is so obvious. That was the case when I first met them to talk about their September wedding (Summer can’t wait!— Me either!) and was equally so when we met last Sunday on a warm Spring day.
Just a few from our time together…
Hey! I said that I’m announcing the winner on MONDAY, Feb 1st. This is simply announcing the end to the competition. I truly wanted to thank each and every one of you who participated! (Even those who “participated” 5,6,7, or 8, times.) Comments received AFTER 2:00 pm EDT Sunday Jan 31st (by MY watch), will be very much appreciated, but they aren’t going to count.
The winners of the portrait sessions will be notified very soon. If you have not seen the details of the prizes – The Baker’s Dozen Contest details.
I’ve begun tallying the votes, (including deleting the many, uh, “enthusiastic” 2nd, 3rd, and 4th votes from the same persons..) and I’ll post the winner Monday morning.
As a quick side note, I asked a number of my photographic colleagues to vote on their favorite image. (Their votes did not count toward the contest results.) Their choice, due largely to the composition and warmth of the light, was this one:

It should come a no surprise that when a bunch of wedding photographers get together for one of the largest educational conferences in the business, they go out shooting.
In this case, we found our selves in the care of one of the great talents in the business, Chuck Arlund. He got us set up with truly exceptional models, and a beautiful church in downtown Nashville.
And the results?

A little over six months ago we first met Madison in my Maternity shoot with Harry & Kristen. And she made her photo debut just a couple of weeks later.
We finally got together again last weekend for her 6 month Family Portrait session. What a wonderful young lady and family to spend an afternoon with!
Just a peek at some of the photos of the day.

It’s been just a tad over 6 months since you met Gavin in his newborn photos. And just a couple of weeks before that, Chad and Angie did their maternity photos with me. Time literally blows by. That gap between when I see the newborn and when I shoot the 6 month photos is far larger than it sounds.
Look back at the New Born photos, then look at a couple of shots from the day.

A few months ago I shot the engagement photos of Randy and Joye. I also had the pleasure of shooting Joye’s bridal session. (Blog post to come…)
Theirs was a small, intimate wedding held at the lovely Jasmine and River Road Houses. Sometimes in a large affair, the little things can be lost in the greater complexity. Simplicity has a special beauty all its own. I like the increased time that I can spend with the bride and groom together. But all weddings have their unique stories. Some small, some large.
This is but a few photos of this South Carolina wedding. A quick story of a wonderful couple, and just a peek at whats to come.

In June I shot Bob and Faith’s engagement session. On a cool evening in October, I met again with this wonderful couple to shoot their wedding. It was presided over by her son (whose wedding I also shot…) and held in their lovely, painstakingly lanscaped backyard. Attended by close friends and family, it was an amazing and intimate ceremony. A string quartet added beautifully to the class and timelessness of the day.
Here is a quick peek.

I had the amazing opportunity to do a corporate portrait session with Columbia area attorney Kana Johnson. She wanted a more updated look for some advertising pieces. More importantly, the images needed to have a range of looks for differing markets. Downtown Columbia provided all the settings we could ever ask for. A great “model” (she speaks 4 languages by the way) a cool Autumn evening, and great light, all came together to make a great shoot!
Three quite different looks from the day.
