This is just a quick notice that all 5 of the winners have been notified via the email addresses that they used when voting. Winners were selecting using the best darn Random Number generator on the Internet. http://www.random.org/integers/ (Yes. I am a nerd.)
The results of those sessions will be appearing here soon. And maybe, just maybe, there will be another Baker’s Dozen contest next year!
In the slow months of fall and winter, many photographers take on personal projects. They do this for a number of reasons and the projects vary from photographing door knockers to documenting daily life in the rural southwest. My travels frequently take me by a field that has been cut. It’s not a particularly pretty sight.
Experience has taught me however, that beauty and mystery are often hidden from the casual glance. When I journeyed into the field, I found a world of texture, light and color that could not be seen from the hurried pace of the road.
This is the first in a series of projects – The Field of the Fallen.
I’m a bad blogger… bad blogger!
Coming Up, look for our model shoot with the very lovely Spencer, and the engagement session of Sarah and Brad.
I may even post a few from our Alaskan Cruise.
When a friend of the wife came for a short visit, she brought her daughter with her. If ever a face demanded a little camera time, this was it! I shot this very impromptu, in our living room. A touch of flash in the right direction and poof – instant angel!

And since it is Spring, I stopped by a local park for a quick morning shoot.

Disney’s Food and Wine festival has been a destination for the Mrs and I for a few years. This year was no exception. Without question, this year’s food winner was the “crawfish etouffee” from the Louisiana booth. The mini bottles of Tobasco sauce, put the dish over the top!
But I elected not to try photograph the food. Instead, I spent the time shooting the other eye candy around the parks. A few from the vacation:

My last minute couple, Chad & Angie, came over for their newborn session with Gavin. Boundless energy. That’s what I thought of most as we captured the many faces of this fine young man. In the first photo, Gavin is actually yawning, not yelling. Though, as a budding Gamecock fan, a good rebel yell might have been in order.

In June I shot Bob and Faith’s engagement session. On a cool evening in October, I met again with this wonderful couple to shoot their wedding. It was presided over by her son (whose wedding I also shot…) and held in their lovely, painstakingly lanscaped backyard. Attended by close friends and family, it was an amazing and intimate ceremony. A string quartet added beautifully to the class and timelessness of the day.

It’s only been a short while since my Maternity session with Harry and Kristen. When that session was over Harry casually looked over at Kristen and said, “Okay, we got the pictures. You can give birth now…” Less than 48 hours later, she did just that! Talk about just in the nick of time.
So Madison is with us, and what a treasure she is! A few from the day…

Angie and Chad really didn’t have any plans to do a maternity session. However the circumstances aligned themselves a bit, and their good friends, Harry & Kristen, shared their session photographs. Angie at once saw the importance of capturing such a special time. A young couple, waiting on a new life – Gavin – brings a very personal inspiration to me.

Late last year, I spent a couple of hours with Brad and Jennifer shooting their engagement session. Since then the cool breezes of Autumn gave way to the warmth of a late May Saturday. Finally 5:00 arrived and the long awaited service begun. A couple very much in love, surrounded by family and friends who knew the depth of it, made for an emotional, wonderful day!
